First Move
Find the numbers on the wrapper and follow them in order: 1, 2, then 3.
Quick steps
- Pull tab 1 down and around.
- Slide out sides 2 and 3.
- Fold the seaweed around the rice.
Packaging varies, so follow the arrows printed on the onigiri in front of you.
If You See or Hear This
If You’re Stuck
Put the onigiri down and look for the printed numbers again. If the wrapper tears, simply wrap the seaweed around the rice yourself. It may no longer look engineered, but it will still taste like lunch.
Tiny Culture Note
The wrapper solves a very specific problem: rice is moist, but many people want the seaweed crisp. Instead of choosing one texture, the package lets you combine them at the final moment. It is less like opening a snack and more like completing a tiny food project.
